For years I spend my professional artistic career in pursuit of the perfect portfolio, illuminating an artistic style I was interested in exploring-- whether it be photography, editing, carpentry, or writing-- I was after a folio which would be shared with the world as an artistic whole. In musical terms, the perfect album.
Pick a band; The Beatles, Rolling Stones, U2, Radiohead-- they all have them. Perfect albums. But in the faced paced, always jacked-in, 24/7, 365 day-a-year modern world of sensory and social-media overload, it's the hit track(s) from the "perfect" album which are remembered. Not the album.
Look at the modern purveyors of hits in the music world: Drake, Kanye, The Weeknd. They have a hit, they put it out. They don't wait around for eighteen months and the perfect album/portfio to be revealed to them. They all share a steady stream of hits as they come to them, and then somewhere down the road an album might follow. Kanye even views the album as an amorphous thing, changing "The Life of Pablo" after it was released. This made me rethink my artistic mission.
It's the hits, the good stuff, the stunning shot, the moving shot, which should be shared. Why wait for another nineteen of them to reveal themselves, a show be mounted, more time to pass, to share them with the world? Make them accessible as they happen. Keep everything fresh. Alive.
So here they are. The hits. From past works which have stood the test of time, to the new stuff I'm most proud of- as well as some of the older portfolios the work came from.
Enjoy and thank you.
